Slöjd-Detaljer was founded in 1960 by Dan and Margit Medin. Back then, the main focus of the company was to provide schools with supplies for woodwork classes. It was at this time that new directives from the school board said that handicraft lessons in schools should become more diverse and that teachers should start using other materials in classes, such as metal, enamel, rattan etc. Dan was working as a craft teacher at the time and saw the need for a comprehensive supplier that would simplify the ordering process for art and craft teachers.
